Critical Analysis of Development Discourse during the Presidency of Hashemi Rafsanjani (1989_1997)
Abstract
This research is an effort in the framework of discourse analysis and seeks to understand and criticize the development discourse in Iran (1989_1997 (.The main question of research is: What are the constituent elements of the development Discourse in Iran and what criticism is on its results? We tried to answer this question in the framework of Norman Fairclough,s discourse analysis. The research results show that the development discourse of Hashemi Rafsanjani has been the product of the will to power in domestic sphere. In the framework of his plans, he followed the goals like economic liberalization, privatization and economic restructuring. Research findings also indicate that unbalanced development, hyperinflation, and increasing the class and cultural conflicts are the most negative consequences of the development plans.
